Lake Shore is home to a year-round Children's Center that serves between 55 and 65 children with more than 50 non-member families. Operating with a separate budget and its own staff of 18, the Center serves families with children 6 weeks old through 5 years, full-time. LSBCC is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm.
Mission Statement
As people of faith who have been graced by Christ's compassion for all people, Lake Shore Baptist Children's Center wants to offer a welcoming place to children, parents, and families who enter our doors. We know that the world of today's families is a demanding one. Adults struggle to stretch themselves around all of the claims on their time and energy. Lake Shore wants to add it's voice to those of the workplace, the home, and the school in responding to the needs of children. While children are discovering more and more about the special persons God created them to be, we want to introduce them to a world bigger than this school and this city.
Curriculum
Based on the premise that children learn through play, LSBCC reflects the guidelines established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children in offering developmentally appropriate learning centers for your child's exploration. The teacher's role is to observe and encourage each child's development, and to plan choices in learning centers throughout the classroom that will encourage your child to try new skills as well as practice old ones, express ideas, and solve problems.
